The 82nd Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade was held on November 27, 2008, in New York City and shown to viewers live on NBC that same day from 9 a.m. to noon EST. It was hosted by Matt Lauer, Meredith Vieira, and Al Roker. The lineup featured 13 giant helium balloons, 35 novelty/ornament balloons, balloonheads and balloonicles, 28 floats, 10 marching bands, 1,700 cheerleaders, dancers, singers and performers, 900 clowns, a host of celebrity performers, and the one-and-only Santa Claus.
